Aspire V3-571 wireless disconnects
Hi, I recently purchased Aspire V3-571 but wireless connection drops every 10mins. I looked in your website and updated the Wireless device drivers but still it drops.
Card manufacture is Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc.AR5BWB222.
I purchased last month on Nov 24-2012... Can you kindly look into this at the earliest.

If you are using the Atheros 10.0.0.38 version driver from the Acer support site and it is still having the issue, give Acer a call as it may be having a hardware issue that requires service.

Actually, the latest driver for that card is version 10.0.0.217. You can find it here:

I guess it depends if they are using Windows 7 or Windows 8 actually. Tabbie's is flagged for Windows 8 on their site, so if that's what you are using update with that. If you are using Windows 7 the driver I provided was flagged for Windows 7.

My OS is Windows 2008 64bit
WIreless Card in device manager shows:Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 wireless Network Adaptor
Wireless card driver version: 10.0.0.75
I did an upgrade it to the one from website but still no luck...Hence I rolled it back.

same issues here. tried the updated driver, tried rolling back. still having random wifi disconnect / drop problem. its is very troublesome for me especially since i cant rely on my laptop to take an online test which, if i get disconnected, saves the score and thats that no second chance!
windows 8 64bit acer v3-571 same atheros chipset as above. anyone resolved this yet?

Good day All
I suggest that you do the following:
1. Update the bios to the latest bios update version 1.13. You can download the bios from the following website: http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=4076
2. Once bios updated, download thewireless driver direct from the vendors website as they have the latest version 10.0.0.75. Here is the link: http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=74&system=5

Updating bios??? Sre u sure...I dont want my new laptop to be given to scrap dealer.
can you provide me the reason as to why updating the bios needed?

I had exactly the same problem, it must be something to do with the new updated driver as when I rolled back it became perfectly stable.
Using W8 & Atheros driver.
PS: this also effects the Bluetooth driver as well which had the same result.

Hi,
I havent updated the BIOS. I tried with Atheros Wireless LAN 10.0.0.217 version but the disconnection was very bad..it used to disconnect every 5mins. then I rolled back and now it disconnects approx after 20mins.
Do you mention any precautions for updating the BIOS? If something goes wrong will it be covered under warranty?

If the model you purchased originally came with Windows 8 preloaded, you would use #1. If the unit originally shipped with Windows 7 you would use #2.

Hi,
After many, many hours of investigating this frustrating issue, I finally came up with a solution.
I posted it in this thread : Limited connection and solving it
I hope you find the information useful. I did not want to do anything to the BIOS, as I am completely unsure about this approach. Read the above, because since I took this action I have had NO ISSUES WITH LIMITED CONNECTION!

So are you saying we have to uninstall these drivers completely. Sorry if I'm being a bit dim! The problem does seem to occur when the signal is 'Limited'.

I just checked with Ethernet cable. ***** its not even identifyin the connection type and get limited connection. I am thinking to give it back to Acer.. I now regret that I should not have brought this laptop and wasted around 750SGD. Even the track pad is crappy...
@ Acer: Where can I return this laptop? Please do let me know customer service center address. Even the Head office address is possible I dont mind spending money for parcelling it to your head office.
Thank you very much for providing such a cheap laptop.

Pradeep
