my laptop is an acer spin 5 ( SP513-52N-89LS ). it shut down by itself because the battery was too low. i plugged it in but it's not charging. i keep trying to turn it on, but only the critical low battery screen pops up. it's definitely not the charger that's faulty, because my other laptop can be charged. please help

gvwzq..Hi Please follow the below steps which has been given below..

    1. turn off your computer then remove the power cable ( AC Adapter)
    2. If Battery is removable, remove the battery then press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds to drain the flea power (static charge.)
    3. If Battery is not removable, Look underneath your laptop you could see a small battery reset pinhole where you have to insert paperclip and hold it down for 10 to 15 seconds then remove the paperclip
    4. Insert the battery first and connect the AC adapter then turn on the computer and check whether the problem is resolved if not got to step 5
    5. Get on to device manager by clicking on start and type device manager in search box
    6. In device manager expand Batteries and whatever you see under batteries uninstall them then turn off your computer
    7. unplug the power cable from your laptop
    8. If your laptop has a removable battery, remove it then wait for 30 seconds then Put the battery back in to your laptop
    9. Connect the power cable then turn on your laptop and check it's resolved your issue or not..
    10. Try to connect Ac adapter to different power socket and check on it..

My Acer SP513-52N battery was not charging.  I tried the paper clip in the battery pin hole, waiting  5 before powering back up. Did not fix.  Now I removed the battery drivers from the device manager as recommended above, powered off, reset battery again, waited and turned on.  It is now caught in an endless loop between trying to start up blue screen with a notes on it about my background, and then turning off the screen.  Repeat, like a flashing neon sign.
The dots in the background that usually signal an update from windows or something happening are also spinning.

Not sure what to do next.   I closed the cover and now letting it sit and maybe charge the battery a bit.

Thoughts?   Update:  resting helped, it booted. But did not fix the problem.  My battery still says 5% and
No indication of it charging.  My power supply must be working,  as it shutdown as soon as I unplug.
Bought in Dec 2018.   Frustrated.  Computer works fine plugged in, but can not use it without  cord.

It's time to get the battery replaced. That's why it's not charging.

It is possible for a power supply to fail in such a way to provide power, but not enough power to charge. If you can, try a different supply first before a battery replace. Your machine is likely less than three years old, and that's early for a battery failure.

Acer SPIN5 20months old, battery cannot charge. Under warranty supercare. Used for online schooling. Would be nice if ACER had a preventive failure notice so we could get it fixed before it became dead. Next, it would be good if it can power on bypassing the battery when this happens.

@JYFC you should start your own thread so people will be more likely to see your question. Include the full model number (it should be something like SP5xx-xxx-xxxx), what issue you are seeing and what you have tried so far. More often than not the issue is the charger rather than the battery, or the OS getting confused about the battery stats.

i have the same issue, the service center solution to this is to give me another type of charger. previously i received type c charger, now the service center provided another charger (not type c, dunno whats its called). Very annoyed, i prefer type c charger.
