Hello everyone,

Recently I got myself a new laptop, an Acer Aspire 7 A715 42G. This is my first laptop that I bought and I was wondering if the battery was ok. After 3 full cycles of full discharge I got 6-7 hours of use on battery. Is this good? And I know that I shouldn't fully discharge a lithium battery but yeah, new laptop user. I'll attach the html file and I'll look forward seeing your feedbacks. Thanks in advance!

You dont seem to have attached it :) its just a link to the local file! 6-7 hours of battery life is prety good for real world usage, slightly lower than i would expect though. The best way of judging it is, is the battery life sufficent for what you need at the moment? If it is dont frett about it :D!

Well, the 7hr cycle was a test of mine of just playback at 30% brightness and connected with a pair of headphones. I guess that it's ok for what I want to do + I can replace the battery if bigger probles appear. Tommorow I'll attach a PDF file with the battery report just to be 100% sure that nothing's wrong with my laptop. And one more thing. Is it normal that my RAM is at 35-40% (16 GB total) while watching something on the web + idle Discord, Spotify and Wallpaper Engine?

    Hi PaltineanALex,

7hrs running time is good one for a laptop. "can replace the battery if bigger probles appear" - Yes, you can replace but your unit battery will not damaged that much quicker. Now it is in very good condition.

So here is the battery report in PDF file. If someone can look over it and tell if everything is wrong with the battery, please leave a comment. It'll be much appreciated!

I cannot use my laptop without plug in and the charge never increases more than 89%

Yes, very good advice, "if it ain't broke don't fix it", and another one is: Don't try to limit your battery to 80% to preserve battery life as that is a myth widely circulating in this community, I wish I had 6 hours battery life with my brand-new OLED laptop. I see in the battery report that you exceeded 100% charge and that the capacity is more than the design capacity. Your battery stats are off which means you did not do a complete charge cycle the proper way by discharging till the laptop shuts down on its own. You worry too much about depleting the battery to zero, Windows Power Plan will prevent that and shuts down the system automatically when it reaches 2-3% charge. Disable Fast Startup and Hibernate in Power Plan, disconnect all USB devices and external monitors and do one complete charge cycle again, plug in the adapter and charge without using the laptop till the amber LED turns blue (99%) and wait an extra 5-10 minutes to charge to 100%, unplug the adapter, boot to Windows and use the laptop till it shuts down by itself (nothing wrong with that) then plug in the adapter, don't boot and let it charge till the amber LED turns blue plus an extra 5-10 minutes. That's it.
