I’m trying to get everything ready for thermal repaste. But I can’t find any pictures of my model PH315-53 heat sync being opened up. So I’m not sure if I need just thermal paste. Or if I need thermal pads as well. Also do I need to clean the vram paste and repaste it, or can it be reused? Thanks in advance for any info

It has injected thermal "pads" which tear in half (Half on one side and the other) once opened.
While replacing all the goo with pads is cleaner, you don't have to do it that way.

When I first opened mine I didn't have any pads available but I chose to open anyway and here's what I did..

    1. Lift the heat plate/pipes straight up, don't slide it off - You want the tears to be uniform
    2. Place a tiny tiny bit of thermal paste inside each torn "pad" area to fill the gaps
    3. When your done repasting set the heat plate/pipes back down straight and tighten
    4. When you tighten, get the screws barely snug, don't over tighten or you'll squish the pads and lose your spacing

Would you happen to know what size thermal pads would work for the V ram? I’m tempted to try that out, however I’m fairly new to working on my laptop (haven’t done thermal repasting before) so I think I would feel very uneasy trying out that method. I would only need to know the size for the vram, the laptop is only 2 months old so I probably wouldn’t be messing around with any of the other thermal pads unless someone recommended to replace those as well.

I do not know the size offhand.

A safe bet would be 1.5mm
Then even if it's a tad too thick, it will squish itself down to the right size
