Battery indicator is Blue when plugged in. Blue light near power button comes on for about a minute when power button is pressed. They had a Blue screen just before it stopped turning on completely.
The laptop had travelled from OH to WA in carryon luggage just before this started.

You can sometimes see something like that when the battery gets confused. With newer designs they put a battery reset switch behind a pinhole on the bottom of the laptop, but I don't believe you have one with the SP111-33 model. Resetting the battery on those requires pulling the bottom case half off and physically disconnecting the battery. There are ten screws holding the case halves together, not that there are two sizes so pay attention to which go where. Once the bottom is off it's pretty easy to find the battery connector. Disconnect then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds or so to bleed off any residual electricity. Reassemble and plug in power without turning it on and wait for a full charge indicator light, then turn it on normally. LEt us know how well that works...

Thank you very much for the response @billsey. I followed your instructions and the laptop is still doing the same thing. The blue light comes on next to the power button for 30 to 60 seconds but nothing displays on the screen. I have tried getting into the BIOS, no luck. Does anyone have any more suggestions?

Do you have an external monitor you can test with? If you connect it through the HDMI to an external and the display comes up then we're looking at a failed display or display cable internally, if the external display is also staying blank then we're looking at something closer to a motherboard issue.

Thank again @billsey. I plugged it in to my Samsung TV on input 4 and set the tv to that input then tried the power button on the laptop. Still no display. The blue light comes on next to the power button for 30 to 60 seconds but nothing displays on the screen. I have tried getting into the BIOS, no luck. Does anyone have any more suggestions?

SOLVED! I just wanted to let you all know that I got my Grandson's laptop going again! I tried a Windows 10 recovery thumb drive that I had made for my desktop PC. When I hit the power button, the laptop started emitting a series of beeps which had not ever happened since this problem began. I did not note the pattern so when the power on light shut down after a minute like it has been doing I tried again and got a different series of beeps but the power on light shut down again after a minute. I hit the power button again and I finally got the screen to light up then windows started! YAY, but the display was very pixelated and kept showing blocks of ????. so I tried to get it to shut down but it would take no input. I tried ctrl, alt, delete a few different while I was trying to get it to recognize a keystroke or the touchpad input. Finally tried ctrl, alt, delete and it just shut down! NEXT, I hit the power button again and windows started again. I quickly pulled the recovery drive and it continued starting and has been running fine each time I start it since! Anyone have a good explanation of why this worked? It never got to where I could try to perform a recovery???? Thanks again for all the advice! Great to be a part of your group even if I don't have an Acer PC at this time!!!

If you are able to start the windows , on the login screen - please don't type the password ..    You will see a power button on the lower right corner or Upper right corner.   When you click on it - it will show sleep, shutdown and restart.

Hold the shift key on the lower left corner of keyboard and then click on restart..

It will show chose an option - continue , troubleshoot
You can now remove the finger from the shift key.   Don't hold the shift key anymore.
    click on troubleshoot
    Go to advanced option
    Go to UEFI
click on restart -  It will go to bios..
press f9 - It will load bios defaults
press f10 - save the changes
Now try to restart the computer without the recovery flash drive.
    It should boot properly..

Alternatively if you are able to login to windows after typing the password,  it will show you the regular icons on the desktop.    Try windows + x  It will show you a menu.   On the menu you will  see shutdown as a second last option on the bottom of menu.    Click on shutdown -   It will show you sleep , shutdown and restart.     Hold the shift key on the keyboard and click on restart. It will show you chose an option, continue, troubleshoot..  You can now remove the finger from the shift key.     click on troubleshoot - chose advanced options.    Chose UEFI - click on restart.   It will go to bios.   Now you can load the bios defaults by using f9.   It will show load bios defaults.   press enter.    Try f10  -  It will ask to save the changes.   Press enter.

Now try to restart the computer without the recovery flash drive.
    It should boot properly..

Please try the power drain and bios defaults one more time..

Doing the power drain and bios defaults will really help.  Kindly follow the steps given below:

Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug  the charger cable, devices or any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, you can find a  pin hole. It is a tiny hole. You can a find a battery symbol indicator next to the hole. It is like a + and - sign symbol as though somebody is trying to shift the battery out. Insert the pin on to the hole for 30 seconds. Remove the pin. Flip the laptop. Connect the charger cable, turn on the computer.  Only on laptops where the battery is inbuilt you can find the battery reset hole on the back of laptop.

If you dont find a pin hole on the back of laptop then you might be using removable battery. There is no need to unscrew anything to remove the battery.  Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug  the charger cable, devices and any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, please look at the top or bottom depending on the way you look at it. You can find a long door. It is a battery removable door.  Just below that you can find a latch.  If you move the latch you can remove the battery door. Once the battery is removed,  flip the laptop. Open the top cover, press and hold the power button for 1 minute. Connect the battery back on the back of computer. Connect the charger cable back and then turn on the computer.

If you don’t see a reset pin hole on the back of laptop or if you are not able to remove the battery (if it is inbuilt ) then please unplug all the cables and devices out of laptop.   Hold the power button for 1 minute.   Connect all the cables back and restart the computer.

While turning on the computer, tap f2. It  will go to bios. Press f9  once. It will show load bios defaults with a yes or no popup. Press enter. Popup screen will disappear.  Press f10 once. It will show save changes popup with yes or no. Press enter. Computer will restart and it will load into windows.

It might also be the issue with battery, charger or power outlet.   Try to use the charger in a different room on a different power outlet.  Try to bypass the surge protector and connect it directly to power outlet.    Try to use an alternative charger if possible.    Try to turn on the computer without the charger and check it  ( as long as the battery is not drained out )

Now while turning on the computer tap f2.   It should go to bios...
