Yeah, it dropped a couple more times a few minutes apart, so I switched back to HDMI.

and when I connect an external speaker to the monitor audio output jack the drop also happens on the external speaker as well :(

It's definitely the DP connection.  It's been a few weeks on HDMI with no sound drops.  Switched back to DP today and audio dropping has returned.

Do, you have it narrowed to DP. There are three components, the GPU, the cable and the monitor. Any way to isolate them out? Try a different cable, try the monitor on a different computer, try a different monitor on the same computer, all using DP...

It's happened with two different computers (i5-4590/MSIG45-z97 board, and Ryzen 5 3600/Asus ROG B450F board), two different GPUs (RX 570 and RTX 2060 Super), and two different DP cables (the one that came with the monitor and a brand new Amazon Basics cable. :(

I'm glad it's not happening with HDMI, but my RTX 2060 super only has one HDMI output and my 2nd monitor is old as ***** (DVI/VGA only - Dell 2405FPW).  I also can't run at 144hz without using DP, the HDMI input only supports 100hz I believe.  I will probably at some point get a DP to HDMI adapter and just deal with it until then.

If you are still in warranty, contact Acer support and let them fix it... Better to get it now instead of waiting until the warranty runs out.

Same issue, while Playing Diablo 3 and Romance of Three Kingdoms 14, also while watching Netflix, Youtube and other streaming movies online. Very annoying. Audio cuts out randomly few 2-3 seconds. When it happens, it happenes 2-3 times consecutively.  2 minutes ago the whole audio just "popped" off whilt watching netflix and disabled icon showed on audio icon, had to reboot.

    Happening with

    1. Aspire VN7-592G (laptop, connected via Thunderbolt to DP adapter)
    2. Custom PC with MSI Radeon RX 5700 XT Gaming X and MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX Core Boost (connected via DP)

Same issues here too, Problem with the DP ports, I have an extra problem, my DP slot 1 on the monitor causes the screen to intermittently pop anf flicker. this was just like a week into buying the monitor. I changed to DP 2 slot and no flickering issue, bought a new braided and supposedly VEsa certified DP1.4 cable but still the audio is dropping intermittently. Man, this sucks, gone are the days when you can buy something and it just works out of the box and lasts forever, companies are getting less and less liable for their products as they grow bigger and bigger. I hope they'll see this thread.

An update, got my hands on a confirmed real certified DP 1.4 cable with the VESA stickers and stuff, and my flickering and poping issue just went away, the two previously supposedly DP 1.4 cables I got online were probably not really DP 1.4 certified. I guess good cables do make a difference. Bad news is, the intermittent audio drops are still there.

So I sent my monitor for Warranty repair to Acer on June 19th. Got it back today. Their paperwork says mainboard was replaced. No more audio issues.

Hey all, I know this is a really  dead thread, but I stumbled across it when I was having issues as well. If you're running NVIDIA Cards, a separate update is required for the 10 series to update the Displayport version on the Graphics card. This update IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE STANDARD GAME READY DRIVERS. This Solved my Popping issue, and I hope It can potentially help any NVIDIA customers, and perhaps the AMD users as well.

    SOLVED! Thanks

Issue: Acer Nitro XV240Y Pbmiiprx  monitor's audio would cut out for 5-10 seconds after the monitor fell asleep and audio would come back itself while running a Nvida 1080 GPU.

Resolution: Ran the 1.3 and 1.4 displayport firmware update from Nvidia
    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/nv-uefi-update-x64/
    Issue resolved.
