1. When I connect a TV to my Acer Aspire E1-572 Windows 10 laptop using HDMI I get picture but no sound on the connected TV.
I have the laptop set to Duplicate so both displays do the same thing. All tests are done with the HDMI cable plugged in and TV on. The TV is OK as sound works when I connect it via HDMI to my desktop PC. It isn't the cable.
2. Sound works fine on the laptop speakers
3. Device manager > Sound, video and game controllers ..., has two items below it, both called High Definition Audio Device. The top one has a yellow triangle showing something is wrong. When I double click it the general tab says "This device cannot start (Code 10)". When I try to update the driver it says the latest driver is installed (Microsoft 09/05/2020 10.0.19041.264)
4. Start > Settings > System > Sound > Choose your output device ..., only has one device and not two devices. It is not showing the HDMI device.
5. Windows 10 is a brand new build from Microsoft as I installed a SSD. sfc /scannow found no problems.
My thoughts are either the hardware has failed or the driver is bad. I searched the Acer site for an HDMI driver but found nothing.
All suggestions will be greatfully received.
