Good day, I've opened up my laptop, disconnected the battery and installed a stick of ram in the only spare slot and now the laptop refuses to turn on. Tried the battery reset method with paper clip, disconnected the cmos battery and made sure everything is inserted properly. When I press the power button the orange led blinks next to the battery once and goes off. Please can someone assist as I have opened the laptop before to upgrade the HDD to SSD but haven't experienced anything like this before. Did I maybe blow the mother board?

What memory did you try to install? What memory was in there already? Your model usually has either 4GB or 8GB soldered to the MB and a single slot for 4GB or 8GB of additional. Spec calls for DDR4-2666 SDRAM in a SODIMM stick. Did you try something different?

I sent it in for repairs, apparently the mother board is gone :(

Wow, it's not easy to zap a MB while installing memory, but then it's not impossible either... :(
