Thunderbolt 3 - no picture when playing a game and other issues Predator Triton 500 PT515-52

I bought a WD Black D50 Thunderbolt 3 dock, mostly for cable management. My understanding was that TB3 has enough bandwidth for video to pass through at 1440p 240Hz, however I am finding the following:
  • It doesn't work with HDR on at 240Hz
  • It barely works with HDR off at 240Hz, sometimes the screen (Samsung G7) just crashes and needs to be switched off and on again. Same situation at 144Hz.
  • It doesn't work with games (I've only tried FIFA so far) - I get a blank screen whenever the game is on full-screen mode, it works if the game is windowed
None of these problems occur when I connect the laptop directly to the monitor either via a DP or via a TB-to-DP cable.

Is TB3 really unable to handle 1440p at 240Hz or 144Hz, or do I need to do anything else? I have the latest TB driver from the Acer website, and I have tried both with the TBT gain BIOS setting enabled and disabled, same result.

Is there anyone who is successfully playing games either at 144Hz or at 240Hz on 1440p using a TB3 dock, and if so, which dock is it?

    Hi dinosm,

    # Try to get the BIOS page.
    1. Turn OFF the unit.
    ​2. Press and hold the F2 key and turn on the unit. 
    3. You will be in setup utility page. 
    4. Once you got the screen release the F2 key.
    5. Tap on F9 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    6. Tap on F10 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    7. Your unit will restart by itself. 

    Check this T/S and post the result. ​

    This looks like the best dock available. I would blame Acer and move on.
