Upgraded my Nitro AN515-52 with a suitable RAM but it doesn't show

So I already had 8 GB of RAM and put another 8 GB RAM in the empty slot, the 'Crucial CT8G4SFRA266 8 GB  DDR4 2666 MHz' to be precise. I am certain this fits my laptop (correct me if I'm wrong).

However, in Task Manager the exact same stats show as before the upgrade. It says it only has 1 slot taken. I have also tried to swap the RAM slots with no result.

Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi,
    You could try this, go to BIOS screen and move to Main tab, press F9 button, then press F10 to Save&Exit, if that doesn't help, I suspect that it could be a faulty module.

    @NitroGamerBeast

    Try the power drain test and then insert the ram and check..    Let us not miss any of the steps before coming to any conclusion.

    Kindly follow the steps given below..

    Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug  the charger cable, devices or any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, you can find a  pin hole. It is a tiny hole. You can a find a battery symbol indicator next to the hole. It is like a + and - sign symbol as though somebody is trying to shift the battery out. Insert the pin on to the hole for 30 seconds. Remove the pin. Flip the laptop. Connect the charger cable, turn on the computer.  Only on laptops where the battery is inbuilt you can find the battery reset hole on the back of laptop.

    If you dont find a pin hole on the back of laptop then you might be using removable battery. There is no need to unscrew anything to remove the battery.  Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug  the charger cable, devices and any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, please look at the top or bottom depending on the way you look at it. You can find a long door. It is a battery removable door.  Just below that you can find a latch.  If you move the latch you can remove the battery door. Once the battery is removed,  flip the laptop. Open the top cover, press and hold the power button for 1 minute. Connect the battery back on the back of computer. Connect the charger cable back and then turn on the computer.

    If you don’t see a reset pin hole on the back of laptop or if you are not able to remove the battery (if it is inbuilt ) then please unplug all the cables and devices out of laptop.   Hold the power button for 1 minute.   Connect all the cables back and restart the computer.

    Now try Windows + pause break - on the keyboard.    It will show you the memory details .

    Get CPUz and look at the specs of your OEM memory in "Memory" and "SPD" sections of what the specs of your OEM 8GB memory was installed? As and if your OEM memory is DDR4-2400MHz and you add a 1x DDR4-2666MHz then your memory will run at the lower speed/timing and also not in dual mode. Make sure that both memory modules match and are the same speed/timing (it doesn’t have to be the same manufacturer). These are the recommended OEM Acer specs for your AN515-52 so keep to these specs:

    Hello @brummyfan2, thanks for responding. I have gone through this proces but it doesn't change anything for me. I assume that when you press F9 in the BIOS screen, you have to confirm this action with enter?

    Hi,
    Yes, that's correct, press F9 to set BIOS values to default settings, then press F10 to save the settings and exit, we need to do this because sometimes when you add a new hardware the BIOS doesn't recognise it immediately.
    I suspect the faulty memory module(DOA) because you mentioned that when you switch the modules also it didn't make any difference, so it must be the faulty module.
