I recently repasted my PH315-51 with kryonaut. My gpu is still reaching 75'C on max fans. I think it is because of the thermal pads. What specifications of thermal pads should I buy for the VRAMs?

0.5 mm for vram to replace that pink thermal past type thing. for other part you need 1.0 mm

Hi, sorry for bringing up an old topic, but isn't pink thermal paste thing something on the 2019 model? PH315-51 is a 2018 model which has different cooling heatpipe layout and doesn't come with that pink paste.

I have the exact same model as the OP's (PH315-51 [2018]) and just recently repasted, and replaced the VRAM thermal pads with new and facing exactly the same problem. Would the OP @busu3 be able to update if 0.5mm thickness thermal pad solved the problem?

I used 1.5 mm initially and there was 0 contact with the die then 0.5 mm is what works the best. 1mm doesn't spread the paste out completely.

@busu3 thanks for the response. I'm getting some 0.5mm pads now.

also, what kind of temperatures are you getting for both CPU & GPU with the 0.5mm pads now?

I raise the back by 3 inches and put fans on max. Gpu average 99-100% usage and cpu at about 50% average: Gpu temps are max 67 average 64, Cpu temps are max 79 and average 71. Under stress tests, cpu goes to 83-85 and the gpu stays at about 72(both cpu and gpu 100% usage). All temps in celsius.

Well noted, thanks! I'm going to order some 0.5mm pads now.

I've recently changed thermal pads and paste of my Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-51 2018(i5 8th gen) models and i sort of measured the thermal pads with an internal caliper. It seems that the measurements are mostly around 1.2mm so i used 1.5mm for most of the pads and a little bit to 1.0mm so yeah just from my experience. But i did put a thicker thermal paste in case its too thick. The paste i used is kryonaut grizzly and pads is arctic. Temp was 96 before with gaming but after changing pads and paste it dropped down to around 81 with gaming as well.Technically most of the parts are 1.5 so hope i could help.

I think 75'C is alright for this laptop. Out of the box the CPU & GPU temps were around 95'C and 85'C respectively. After repasting and undervolting my CPU hovers around 75-80'C and GPU hovers around 74-75'C while gaming.
