2nd question
i downloaded the nvidia driver ( 306.30 ) from acer website and it's telling me that there's a new update availale so should i use nvidia drivers or it's better to stick with acer drivers or there's no difference at all?

You just have to change the dolby config in the control panel. I can't tell you how because it's different system to system, I don't know why, you'd think it wouldn't be... Another thing is that the game you are playing might be configured to use another sound device (standard sound from pc) rather than the dolby system. I would look into the settings in game as well. And no, a bios update won't help with this. That's completely software related. A bios update would help if say the speakers themselves stopped working during gameplay. Or at least that would be a better example of when to do a bios update.

Anyhow, Acer uses a custom copy of Windows and they customize quite a few of their driver as well. Realistically if your system works well enough you could just wait for Acer to patch their own driver to match the newest one. You're not going to get hacked because your graphics driver isn't up to date. If your system works with the old one there really isn't a dire need to update it unless the nvidia site says right on it "this update prevents units from randomly catching fire".

It's completely up to you, if the new driver works, why not. If you're satisfied with the old one, who cares? Worse comes to worse you try the new one and it doesn't work for some reason so you switch back to the old.

1st question, I'd use an alternate sound card anyway (like a USB one) Smiley Very Happy The Dolby advanced stuff isn't really an improvement.

2nd question, absolutely! I'm not sure about the nVidia cards, but I know the ATI drivers won't work on Acer laptops with ATI cards. But, if the driver from nVidia works on it then you should deffinately run the most up to date driver.
