Whenever the laptop goes into sleep by selecting such in the power menu or by closing the lid and I try to wake it the keyboard lights up but the screen remains black. Latest BIOS 1.09, tried power cycling, uninstalled and reinstalled display driver...Nothing fixes the issue. Also cannot start a repair request with Acer as it never accepts my serial and or SNID. At any rate is there any fix?

Remember that you need to be in the correct Acer site for the locale you purchased the laptop in before the SNID will work. For instance, if you bought it in the UK and are trying to register in the US site it won't be found... IIRC there were a few models that didn't wake from sleep easily when virtualization was enable in the BIOS, so check to see if that affects yours. Otherwise the symptom is normally associated with an app that doesn't sleep well, so try it in Safe mode to see if running without the third party apps makes a difference.

    Thanks for the response.

Virtualization settings are already off in the Bios. Windows safe mode produces same result, if I close the laptop and reopen all I get is a black screen. As for trying to open a repair I start at the Acer website Canada and then attempt Customer Self Service and enter either my laptop's SNID or Serial # and it says it's invalid.

So after some research I disabled hibernation in the Power Options settings. Now when I close and open the laptop I don't get the black screen anymore. It appears there is some issue with the hibernation mode.
