Acer Swift 3X - Awful Battery life

Hi all,

A few weeks ago I purchased an Acer Swift 3X and have been very disappointed so far, it's advertised as getting up to 17.5 hours of battery life yet i barely manage to get 4.5 hours (if i'm lucky) from basic web browsing. I've seen a few other posts in this forum about a similar issue and have tried their suggestions, but no luck.

I have done multiple battery calibrations, updated all the latest drivers, installed the latest BIOS, removed as many programs as I can (to reduce background processes), stopped any antiviruses from continually scanning yet the battery remains awful. I'm barely getting a quarter of the advertised battery life. I wasn't expecting the full 17.5 hours as I know it varies based on usage but 4.5 hours for basic web browsing is ridiculous. Is there anything else I should be trying before contacting Acer customer service?

Thanks

    Hi Vik321,

Laptop battery don't run upto 17.5 hours of life. Normally 3+ hrs is good running time for a laptop battery.

If a laptop is advertised as having up to 17.5, 3+ hours is really not good enough.

Charge the battery to 100%, and then connect the power cord to a wattage meter. Multiply the wattage by 4.5, and compare that number to the specified watt-hours of the battery. If it is close to equal, then an unusually high power draw is to blame. If it is significantly less, then the battery could be defective. What temperature is the CPU and HDD?

I suggest you to contact the retailer.

Better yet, uninstall or fully disable the antivirus package that was provided and run with Defender instead. That will save a whole bunch of power with it not constantly checking every files that's opened...
