    It is possible for there to be child failure of most any electronic product. Your charger might be one of those children. Does the laptop charge correctly if you ignore the heat? Are there any kinks or frayed spots on the cable between the wall wart and the barrel connector? You might have to turn in a warranty claim with Acer on the supply if it's too warm, better now that after the warranty runs out.
