The battery in our Spin 5 laptop stopped holding charge, so I bought a replacement. The exact OEM model was AP15O5L, but I couldn't find this in India, so ordered AP1503K which is listed a compatible model (on the website I ordered from as well as many others, see: https://www.uniqinfotechindia.com/acer-aspire-ap1503k-laptop-battery.html). The battery did turn out to be compatible physically and the connector was identical too. However, the first thing I noticed was that while the laptop powered on from battery, windows was indicating that there was no battery. I connected the power adapter and the charging circuitry also didn't work. I put my old battery back and confirmed that it was still getting detected and getting charged. Ultimately the battery got fully discharged and it wouldn't power on at all because it wasn't charging. I got the store to send me a replacement, assuming that it was a faulty battery, but unfortunately, the new battery is in exactly the same state. Is there something that I could do to get it recognized? I looked around in the BIOS settings and found nothing related.

Which Spin 5 do you have? It should be something like SP5xx-xxx-xxxx. Sometimes the third party battery supplier think that just because a battery is the same size and has the same screw holes it's the same... :(

The model number seems to be SP513-52N.

it is in theory possible, but if you search for "
ap15o5l ap1503k compatibility" you would find hundreds of pages for either battery model that list the other as compatible model.

The Acer part number for the battery is: KT.00305.007, and their description is: BTY PACK LI+ PANA 3C 4670MAH AP150 PANA. My guess is that's a Panasonic battery...
    Yup, elsewhere it says:
    Panasonic 3C 4670 mAh AP150
So, three cell, 4670mAh and AP150 is the form factor.

Thank you, that is a very helpful information! I checked the one I ordered and the SKU says "KT.00305.001". I couldn't check the form factor as the product is no longer listed (getting 404 error), but I am assuming that it would be AP150 as the screws align and the connector is the same. How to confirm whether these two models are really compatible or not?

The link changed, thought the SKU is still the same (I guess because they increased the price) and here is the new link: https://www.uniqinfotechindia.com/acer-aspire-ap1503k-laptop-battery.html

I did a screen capture, in case the site is down or the link changes again and attaching here. The model number is AP1503K, which probably implies the form factor AP150?

    Hi haridsv,

Are you getting any light indication when the charger is connected.

Nope, charge indicator doesn't light up whether the laptop is powered off or on when connected to the charger.

You don't give us enough info... Which Spin 5 do you have? It should be something like SP5xx-xxx-xxxx. Once we know what system you actually have we can look into what the correct battery is, the AP1503K number isn't enough. You may have to go back to the vendor if the battery they sent isn't the right one.

The Acer part number for the battery is: KT.00305.007. Try searching on that... The battery is described as: BTY PACK LI+ PANA 3C 4670MAH AP150, so it's a Panasonic in the A150 form factor with three cells and rated at 4670MAh.

Now I have got exactly same battery AP15O5L as laptop had it originally, my Acer Spin 5 laptop still refuses to detect battery. After inserting new battery, laptop seems to run on whatever battery power left on it but says 'no battery detected'. When I plug back my puffed original battery, laptop able to detect without any issue. I have tried resetting battery trough pin hole, uninstall battery from device manager, tried pressing 15 secs power button after disengaging all devices, nothing seems to work. Please help.

OK, we've narrowed it down a lot farther. It sounds as if the sense wire coming from the battery isn't making good contact or the sense circuit on the motherboard is acting up. :( Do you have the tools to check continuity on that pin of the battery connector?

    Hi Billsey

The battery connector is where I think my problem is.  When I check the battery connector socket on the motherboard, I can only see 5 pins, but the connector has 8 pin holes.  I have a V5-552 X671, and bought a replacement battery from Amazon.  When I got the message, with the new battery, I replaced my old battery that still works (just runs down fast), but the "Battery Not Detected" didn't go away.  When I click the battery icon on the taskbar, it reads 100% Fully charged, (sometimes I saw 255%).   I have already done the following steps.
    1.  Reset pinhole pressed for 5 seconds
    2. Uninstalled the battery in device manager
    3. Changed quick start setting in power options
    4.  reset the "Powercfg" settings in command prompt.

There should be all eight pins in the connector, the only ones that are doubled up are the two grounds (black) and the two +5V (red). Missing, bent or broken pins in the connector could easily give those symptoms...

Given new replacement battery (AP15O5L) isn't working for me and also compatible battery (AP15O3K) also had exact same problem which is Laptop did work on charge available on the new battery but refused to detect. With exact same symptom, I tend to understand new battery isn't going to work without any BIOS upgrade. In fact I tries with BIOS upgrade but couldn't resolve my battery issue. Please suggest me have anyone successfully able to replace battery in Acer Spin 5 SP513-52N and if yes, please provide me with details to buy this battery in Bangalore India.

After a long time, I had an opportunity to get a replacement battery from US via someone visiting, so I managed to order one from ebay ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/155032206227 ) and it worked. I actually took a chance and ordered one that is pulled from Acer Chromebook CB5-312T Laptop which seems to be of the same model (though part number is slightly different). It had tabs for additional screws at the bottom (just like for AP1503K that I bought locally) that I had to cut and remove. Low price was the main attraction, but mine came with about 72% capacity left which I think is decent for the price I paid (though one might get a better battery as the seller said they vary between 70 to 90% capacity).
