CB514 Screen Replacement - Upgrade Resolution?

My son had just broken his CB514-1H screen. A replacement looks simple enough. However, when looking for replacements, most are full HD (1080) as opposed to the standard HD (720) it came with.

I noticed the model does come with resolution options, so do you think there would be any problems in using this opportunity to buy a better resolution screen?

Thanks

    Hi,
Yes, you can upgrade to a FHD panel, could you please post the model of your current panel, you can find out in Device Manager, go to Device manager, expand Monitors, right click Generic PnP monitor and select Properties, move to Details tab and select Hardware IDs, post the number in Value windows.

Note that there are two different cables that go between the motherboard and display in different versions of the CB514-1H. Depending on the difference between the two it may not be an issue or it might be there are different sized connectors at some point. One is described as LCD CABLE (40/30/6/4P,19V), the other LCD CABLE (40/40/6/4P,19V), which leads me to believe somewhere there's a 30 conductor connector and elsewhere it's a 40. Perhaps support for touch?

Thanks for this. As it's Chrome OS, it didn't have the same settings. The full model (from the tag) is CB514-1H-C1T8. It also has the model number N18Q3.

Thanks for your help. It looks like a 30 pin connector.

On searching by the model, I got this result (1080P): https://www.laptop-lcd-screen.co.uk/shop/ACER-CHROMEBOOK-CB514-1H-C1T8-14.0-LAPTOP-SCREEN__366529.asp

I also used the BOE reference number from the back of the removed screen (NT140WHM-N42 V8.0), I got this (720p): https://www.laptop-lcd-screen.co.uk/shop/BOEHYDIS-NT140WHM-N43-V8.0-14.0__253846.asp

Both look to use the same connector, also it had no issues in supporting higher resolution via my external monitor, so I'm assuming the first option would work fine and perhaps worth the upgrade for that little bit extra. I'm just not sure if it would result in any other problems.

    Thanks :)

Sorry, I missed it, as you already have a 30Pin cable I think you can install the FHD panel you have shown in your link.
