New Motherboard assembled - Predator P09-600

Hello,

Unfortunately I had to buy a new motherboard because the original Predator motherboard was defective. Now I have installed it and assembled the most necessary components. Unfortunately there is no power at all, so something seems to be missing. What I noticed is that the power switch, LEDs, etc. are different in this case. Of course, all the necessary parts for starting the computer are correctly assembled. It seems to have more to do with this Predator system, which I didn't consider.

Thanks for your help.

I am surprised you didn't go the warranty route if the MB was bad... Is the replacement the same model MB as the original, or ar your installing a third party MB? No power at all typically points to the power switch. Are the front case wires connected to the right header?

I installed an MSI motherboard. Almost everything works again, except for the power switch. I started the motherboard manually with a screwdriver (contact on the pins). So there remains one problem, how can I connect the power switch correctly.

kateeba, what MSI model mobo have you got installed in your Predator P09-600 case? As its a bit hard to know what you have done and what F-PANEL connection you have missed for the front components. Give us more details of your new mobo and what you have done as the OEM is a type Socket 1151 for a Coffee Lake-S cpu type mobo and I've got no idea what its connections are?

Just as a reference, this is a "Front Panel Header" diagram connation guide from the Acer Predator P03-600 OEM mobo, its not from your Predator
P09-600 but it could be the same? Use this as a guide as it might work. Have a look at your MSI mobos F_PANEL diagram and where pin #1 is and work it out that way.

This is the ATX_POWER: ATX 24-pin Power Connectors that your power supply has and your mobo should have

Hi Steven, thanks for your answer. I have installed a msi MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC. The cable to the Pwr switch (front panel) has two pins. I plugged it into the MB. However, it doesn't work. We are currently starting the computer "manually". That means with the screwdriver (contact on these two pins).

What does mean, the computer works perfect except for the power switch. Unfortunately, we haven't managed to do that yet.

Hum... If you say you use a screw driver to connect pin 12 and pin 14 then your PC will turn on, just like a connection between pin 12 and pin 14, I think you can try a jumper cap.
For desktop PCs or motherboards , there may be a jumper for people to clear CMOS. I believe this can be used for your purpose here.

If you don't have the jumper, how about solder a short 1-2 mm wire connecting pin12 and pin 14 ?

Either of those will force the PC to be on all the time, if you shut down it would just restart. Better to look at your power switch itself to see if it's working or not. It sounds like it is not...

Look kateeba, your MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge mobo has a different F_Panel (well not really but its got less pins) to the Acer that has an F+PANEL with 14 pins (or 13 pins as one is blocked) NOTE; the Acer F_PANEL POWE SWICH pins are also at #'s 6 & 8 > 6 is the + POSITIVE and 8 is the - NEGATIVE just like the MSI.

    ACER F_PANEL

Your MSI mobo's F_Panel has only got 10 pins (or 9 pins as one is blocked), MSI instructs you clearly how to connect the POWER SWITCH (which is pin #'s: 6 is positive & 8 is negative just like the Acer F_PANEL) on the MSI F_PANEL and all other front panel connections, see below and look at your MSI manual. Its a very simple connection and clearley shown like I've included below. I can't see where your problem is?

    Thanks for your help.

The problem is that the connector system of the front panel of the predator is not compatible with the msi connections. For example, the predator Power LED, the front panel LEDs etc. go to the Acer connector that you connect to the motherboard. The Acer Power Switch does not fit on the msi motherboard either. Theoretically, I have to replace all the connector types.

The picture you sent me, where the plugs are shown, doesn't exist with the Predator.

Yes, you will either need to build an adapter cable that converts from the Acer pinout to the MSI pinout. I'd make one with a 14 pin header and the single or dual female connectors that are shown in the diagram. The connectors are easily found, look for Molex .100 spacing.
