I havet Acer aspire 7-A715-72G-74MH. It has 1T of hdd memory. Can I upgrade it by adding 250 gb SSD in a slot or does it have only one slot, so that I have to remove the default one and replace it with a another  SSD ?
what is the best ssd for it ?

There is a empty M.2 slot. Any M.2 SATA or NVME SSD will work. You can get something like WD SN550, Samsung 970 EVO, SK Hynix P31.
Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

For your info. Those M.2 NVMe SSDs mentioned by @AnhEZ28 are all PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs. They are like 5-6 times faster than 2.5" SATA SSD  and M.2 SATA SSD, 20+ times faster than old mechanical HDD. Don't use this M.2 slot for M.2 SATA SSD, it is a waste of the capability.

If you check the links, you should be able to tell.

Only the WD SN550 is slower. The other two are the same, utilizing the full capacity of a PCIe 3.0 X4 M.2 NVMe SSD, close to 3,400-3,500 MB/s sequential read.

You know what? Just because I checked the link for you and found out the SK Hynix has a very good price today with the coupon, so I ordered one for my upcoming new PC build. Ha Ha! It helped myself too.

How would a SATA ssd fit in there since it's so big? Recently got a free SATA SSD and was wondering if I could put that in there.

What @AnhEZ28 referred to is M.2 SATA SSD, not the regular 2.5" SATA3 SSD, though they have the similar performance.

M.2 SATA SSD can use the same M.2 slot like the NVMe drives, but working on SATA speed ( close to 550 MB/s read).

If you have the same model laptop, the lower left hand corner is the space to fit the 2.5" SATA SSD. Do you have the right adapter and the connection cable for that?
