I'm planning to upgrade my old HDD with an SSD m.2. However, i don't know if my laptop supports a SATA SSD or a nvme. In case it supports a nvme, should i buy a pcle x2 or x4? Lastly, whats the maximum storage capacity of an SSD my laptop can handle?

You should be able to replace the 2.5" HDD with a 2.5" SSD without issue up to at least 2TB. You can also add an m.2 SATA or nvme card. Most of the mainboards in these models can support 2X SATA m.2 nvme speeds. This means most nvme cards should operate at about half their full 4x SATA speed potential.

The WD 500GB m.2 card should work fine in your laptop. Jack E/NJ
