I have Gateway DX4820 running Windows 8 with ACER G45T/G43T-AM3 V:1.0 Motherboard.

I  need to turn on/enable VM monitor Mode Extensions

Second Level Address Translation (SLAT)

Turn on Virtualizatoin in firmware.

Can someone give me direction. I have checked the BIOS and am unable to find these items.

Is there a BIOS or FW update and if so, where to find.

Thanks,

steve

I am unaware of a BIOS or update to enable Virtualization.

Try msinfo32.exe to check on Hyer-V make sure all four Hyper-Vs are on especially S.L.A.T.

Check thw CMD prompt and type WINVER to make sure you are running 64 bit Windows 8 Pro or enterprise.

Next go to Turn on Windows features. When you don't see Hyper-V then you are stuck.

Then Goggle Acer unlock Bios and you will find a lot of articles going back to 2009.

Then tell Acer - Tommy you need to unlock the Bios to unlock the advanced tab to enable Virtualization. I can't believe

Acer is not aware of this or that they do not have a work around.

Did you ever find a solution? I have the same PC and want to run win7 on it. I tried bual boot on the same drive and just adding a new hard drive, and both seemed to be blocked by this pc (which I am quickly getting sick of). Then I tried hyper v and ran into the same issue you did, it's not listed in the windows features. the features are listed in msinfo32.exe (all yes). ANyway I hope you discovered the solution. Please advise.

Read your message. Quick answer is I have not hear anything from Acer. Couple of comments having bought a refurbished laptop and having changed the O.S. to Windows 8 Pro I apparently do not qualify for any tech support. If you are looking to use Hyper-V on your laptop your O.S. you need to be running 2008 R2 server or Windows 8 pro. If you decide to go with Windows 7 I would still go with professional rather than home edition. Consider going with a Virtual Hard Drive (check out ITFreetraining.com) or Virtual Box to run a second O.S. Hyper-V doesn't run in Windows 7.

The reason I bought this Acer model was because it has a touch screen. It took a few days to learn how to navigate but knowing a few Windows short cuts and learning how to close applications has turned me into a big supporter of Windows 8.

So even though I can not run Hyper V with this Acer Bios I have a desktop at home dual booted with Windows 7 Ultimate (With Virtual Box) and 2008 R2 server (Which runs Hyper -V). And one day Acer will update their Bios or unlock the features I need to run Hyper-V with Windows 8.
