Whenever running any kind of graphics-hungry game, the battery and power lights flash red repeatedly, and my laptop refuses to take any kind of charge from the power cable until I unplug the cable, close the application, wait a bit, and plug it back in.

Do a "How to Calibrate Your Laptop Battery" which explains what every new laptop owner should do pre using their new laptop and how to calibrate their battery. Try all the steps that are described in this article and see if your laptop will perform better. Also and especially if your laptop is under warranty? Consult Acer and get them to check there problems and if there are other hardware issues that could be causing these problems and faults?

What is the rating of your charger? If the system draws more power than what your charger can supply, it won't charge your laptop.

I am thinking that could be the case. Your CPU+GPU might be drawing more power than what your laptop charger can supply, and for extended periods of time. For shorter durations it shouldn't be an issue.

If you power profile is "high performance", do your laptop a favor and switch to "balanced" or "acer optimized".

Neither balanced, acer-optimized, nor power saving modes fixed this issue

    Hi everyfan,

Try to charge it with different charger.
