NEED SUPPORT

I recently bought an acer laptop, e1-531 on 22/05/2013. just after one week of its purchase i found that the driver for wi-fi has not been provided with the machine. after one month the anti-virus software installed expired. To make this worse, I started recieving a message that says that the version of windows 7 ultimate installed is not genuine. the product id is - ************. i contacted the retailer and was shamelessly and flatly acknowledged that its a pirated copy that was installed. I contacted the retailer and as expected they refused to help or replace the machine or the software. I contacted acer support without any fruitful result as of now. I am really surprised that acer would distribute and sell counterfeit software without the customers knowledge.

So apparently i need help resolving this issueand get the original windowa that I was entitled to.

is there anyone who will help me. Please...............!!

There are a number of avenues open to you.  If this were me, actions I would pursue are as follows.

First perhaps you should find out from Acer whether the retailer is an 'official' Acer retailer.

Second you could go to the retailer and insist upon an exchange for a virgin machine ie without mods/repairs by the retailer.

Third you could report the SOB to Acer and forcefully discuss with them what can be done to satisfy you. Threaten to report to government consumer affairs if necessary.

My best guess is that the machine you got is a return that the retailer 'fixed up' and sold to you as a new machine.

Regardless, I would certainly avoid dealing with this retailer ever again.

    Good Luck.

You should start a new thread.

As for the non genuine copy of Windows, if the place admitted to having sold you a unit that had an illegal copy of Windows installed they have broken the law by selling it to you, end of story. If it were me, I would tell them to refund your money and threaten to go to the police, then keep the laptop in spite of their ignorance. Acer can't help you in this situation, they don't control absolutely everyone who sells their products. In fact, there are very few authorized resellers. Most of the retailers that are selling their products are just buying them from one of the actual authorized distributors or from the internet. The law is your best bet in this case. Best of luck to you.

In other words, you asked your question on top of someone else's question, meaning the primary concern is their question. If you want to ask the community a question, you'll need to open your own thread (question). This way anyone who might know the answer to your question will see it rather than the other persons, and you'll get help more quickly.

You click on 'New Message' at the upper left of Notebooks and Netbooks.  Give it a Subject' to do with your webcam problems. Then type your message/question in the 'Body'.  Be sure to tell us your computer model number, operating system and webcam manufacturer.

    Looking forward to your posting.
