My Spin 5 SP513 53N laptop won't wirelessly connect to a projector.

It used to work, but after a driver update was performed on the projectors at the school where I work, I can no longer connect using windows + p. It starts to connect, showing on the projector screen as well as with the black rectangle on top of my laptop screen. After a while it just says that the connection is lost. I (think I) have installed all the latest drivers, but it just doesn't work. This is a big problem as I need to be able to project while teaching. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bugger , my last thought is remove it from the windows side if it's there:

Remove the wireless display or dock, and then reconnect it. To remove the device, open Settings , and then select Devices > Bluetooth & other devices . Select the wireless display, adapter, or dock, then select Remove device. After that, try reconnecting.
Sorry if that doesn't work 😔1

It's an epson eb-w391

Extra info:
- when I check the properties of the projector, I get the following message: Device SWD\WiFiDirect\C6:9D:ED:F1:30:B9#Miracast requires further installation.
- when I open the logbook of the device I get the following message: Device SWD\WiFiDirect\C6:9D:ED:F1:30:B9#Miracast was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.1 -
Are there any options to delete previously connected devices in the projector menus? The support page from Epson is about as useful as a potato ha! ( https://files.support.epson.com/docid/cpd5/cpd53843/source/troubleshooting/reference/problem_network_connect_screen_mirror.html )
I hate to say it but also a full power cycle can sometimes work for weird issues like these , Is there a power down option on the projector (many just go into standby ) if not of at the wall for a few secs, hold the power button to discharge power back on
Also there is an app which is meant to update the mircast feature set : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/microsoft-wireless-display-adapter/9wzdncrfjbb1#activetab=pivot:overviewtab
But that's meant to be done in the background nowz if you don't have that give it a go0 -
Thank you so much for your help. I'll try to remove myself in the projector menu. I do have a feeling that the issue is with my laptop and not with the projector, as colleagues are able to connect without any issues...1

I was gonna suggest to check something like your phone can connect so it does sound like a windows thing. Could try a force reset on the windows box as well so sign out , click the power button and hold sift when you hit shutdown, should force it to do a proper shutdown as most the time it does a weird hybrid sleep thing which can cause random problems0

By the way I already downloaded the wireless display app, but the "update and security" tab is greyed out, so I can't do anything with it...
I tried to remove my device from the projector users but I can't find anything in the menu to do that. I'll try to hold down the power button for a few seconds, see if that helps. EDIT: it didn't :-(0 -
