Hey there - just adding if you haven't solved it. I was having this problem but managed to get it to work by doing the following: Click the windows/start button > type realtek > open ' Realtek Audio Console ' > ' Device Advanced Settings' (at the bottom left) > change the connector retasking to ' Headset '. Should now work hopefully!
OMG!!! Thank you so much. This worked for me! I just got my Logitech H111 headphone today for work and it has a single 3.5mm jack and the laptop (Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54) has a single headphone jack. Then when I tried it, it's using the internal microphone, so I was like *****!! I wasted money for nothing and then I did some searching on Google. My brother was helping me trying to search for an adapter or a converter for it, then I found this. I tried it and it work. All I did was change the Connector Retasking from the Realtek Audio Console settings from Headphone to Headset and it worked!!! I tried it on my RealMe earphone that I bought for my phone months ago and the mic on it also works now too. Yay!!

@Loudlion this is the only solution I found that worked, I haven't seen this posted anywhere else you are literally a life saver. I was ready to go drop $80 on a wireless headset to skip over this problem entirely which would've sucked because my Astro I got for my xbox originally is great. Thank you!!!!
