    Since you are the original purchaser of an under warranty Acer registered product, you should have no problem getting assistance from Acer Support or Acer Service.  Exactly which DVD sets were included in your original 511 package and which did you loose?

    Are you having any specific software problems?

    There are no recovery dvd for acer w511 mate, because it already has the recovery management application (the recovery is already saved in a partition instead of dvd).

    The dvd only came in with acet w510 32 gb.

    My System DVD says for W510/511 and is part number FD.NKCA0.04W. Contact Acer about sending you one. (not 100% whether 0s or Os).

    @padgett,
    I have asked about it in my country and their answer "no dvd in the package of w511" and when i told them i got it on my w510 package they said again "no dvd, its on the partition of w511, you can recover using the recovery management application" and i thought its logical because my w510 only have 32 gb and my w511 have 64 gb.

    I have tried my system dvd of w510 on my w511 and it works for booting and hence recovery from dvd.

    btw I live in Indonesia and customer services here is usually *****, unlike US or Japan

    Customer service is often entry-level people reading from a script. Once you can penetrate that barrier (usually takes me about 20 minutes) you can reach Someone Who Knows. Keep their contact info.

    Not all bad, if one of my cell phones goes off I know it is someone who really needs help. Otherwise I would have no time to pay it forward here.

    It is interesting that my DVD says for both 510 and 511. Usually these are available for about $20. Have found that you can load from almost anything but will need the Intel drivers to make everything work.

    The whole Acer-Microsoft-Intel relationship this year is interesting, is almost like Intel is in the driver's seat and telling MS and Acer what to do. This maybe why for some things Acer cannot help because they just do not know.

    Most of my information I have on the boot process has come from Intel and seeing some documentation originally from UBUNTU. Once the W3 gets here I may just dump the w510 BIOS and see what I find, just have not bothered yet. Got my start in PCs with BIOS programming but then the IBM Technical Documentation include a dump. If really interested I suggest studying the latest spec from http://www.uefi.org/specs/download/ .

    Reminds me a little of when Intel published the 8086/8088 tech guide in 1979. Most were trying to figure out how to build/use a Mil-Std-1750A (best thought of as a coprocessor in search of a processor) and the Z-80 was dominant for toys (8080 was somewhat passe). So why ?

    My understanding was that Intel was so desperate to sell CPUs that they made IBM who wanted to get in on the PC craze (lotsa competition then) an offer they could not refuse. Not being entirely sure about the whole thing, IBM set up a garage shop in Boca to build PCs (easy to sever if need be - wasn't clearly a success until PC-DOS 2 and 1985, PC DOS 1 didn't even have a "Delete" command.)

    This is getting a bit off subject but can be sure that Intel & Microsoft have been in bed together since Mr. Gates paid $50k (profits from Gee-Whiz Basic) to buy 86 OS from Seattle Computer Products.

    At present most people lokk at Windows 8 as a flop. I differ and think the combination of Windows 8.1 and Intel Clover Trail/Bay Trail (and Windows to go) and going to change who we think about computers.

    For me I just want to replace the Galaxy Tab 2.0 7 with a W3 in my car. Then I can integrate the back up camera easily.

    @gunggu, is it true W511 does not have DVD shipped in retail packages ? i just chatted with acerid, they said W511 has DVD for recovery.. does it means, those DVD came from W510 ?

    @gentong,
    That is correct, the dvd only came with the w510 package. I know this because i purchased both w510 and w511 for my mum and myself.

    Looks like the real answer to your question is at http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27543/

    Oddly enough it says " e-Recovery CDs and DVDs are not available for models without an optical drive."

    However the only media available for my W510 are the three disks.

    Would make more sense for Acer to sell the bootable thumb mentioned on the page since that could be plugged right into the adapter cable and booted from there (have booted that way before with Windows to Go). Go figure.

    Also uploading/downloading would take a while even if permitted since is just under 4 GB for all three disks. (Have loaded all on a 4 GB bootable flash drive)

    Hi... it's ok.. i just got the DVD from W510 packages, and last night i tried to reinstall windows from those DVD to my W511, and it's success..

    But if i go to acer recovery management software, and choose reset to factory settings, why it cannot work ? it said, the hard drive recovery partition is not compatible or bla bla bla.. i forgot what the message said..

    if i delete the whole partition, and boot from system DVD, could it will re-create the whole partition including recovery partition ?
