I just purchased an all in one touchscreen system and now just awaiting for its arrival.  I have seen in the description that preinstalled is office 2010 and you can try it and by it after trial period.  If you purchase the key for this 2010 will you get an upgrade to the latest version 2013 free?

Thanks..

A free upgrade to 2013 is at Microsoft's prerogative.  It depends what deal they have with Acer. Check with the outfit you purchased the computer from and also check Microsoft site regarding any included upgrade offers.

Further, after your free trial period of Office 2010, since you have to purchase anyway, just buy Office 2013.

    Thank you Leho!

I am probably just purchase it, microsoft does not have the promotion any longer.  Since it is just a trial versio0n anyway I will be getting it.  You can't it seems by this just at any store, it no longer comes on dvd or cd for that matter but downloadable.  and you receive a key.  The one at walmart is a bit cheaper but they say it has to ship.  While other stores give you the download link and key through email.  Wonder why walmart says it has to be mailed or delivered to store for pick up.  Sometimes, manufactures offer free upgrades but I guess acer is not one of them.

Can't wait until the computer gets here, another week or so and it will be.  Is it hard to remove the preinstalled 2010 versions of office?  And McCaffee I use norton and have a free install with it so why install something else and have another payment each year

Your computer will treat Office 2010 and Office 2013 as two different programs.  Right now I have both installed on my computer and have not had the need to remove 2010.

I'm not sure what happens when you let the Office 2010 trial expire naturally, other than not having access to the program.  Probably a whole lot of popups urging you to buy Office.  I would be surprised if at that point Microsoft didn't offer you Office 2013 for purchase.

Regardless, I urge you to wait until your new computer has arrived and is up-and-running before you go off and buy more software.  A personal quirk of mine in buying software is to buy the disc rather than downloading.  It usually doesn't take more that a week for a disc to arrive. Saving a week now by downloading is likely to be rued at some future time.  Having the disc (and product code) at hand feels a lot more secure.

Regarding MacAfee and Norton: I have found that when you install Norton (from a purchased disc of course) it will disable MacAfee and also ask you to disable the Windows firewall.  You can then uninstall MacAfee at your leisure.

Thank you again Leho.  Were you able to purchase office home and student 2013 on disc?  I too prefer this measure but when I called Microsoft they told me there are no Disc purchases for 2013 its all being handled by downloads.  So, if you can tell me where to purchase the disc version I would be forever grateful.

Thank you again for your help...

By golly, I think that you are correct.  My 2013 came through a promo thingy and was downloaded.  Apparently MS now licenses for one use for the lifetime of your computer. ie Lose the harddrive = loose Office.

Thank you Leho for confirming.  I appreciate it.

Know anything about upgrading an all-in-one memory from 4 to 8.

The simply leave out of their generic manual wether it is sodimm or dimm.

Everything else is pretty clear, ddr3 1600 SDram PC3 12800 Ram.

Also, does it really void your warranty to upgrade your memory.  If so, is their a service center locator that wont void the warranty.  Shucks, hope its not too expensive...

    Thanks for all
