Hello.
I got my USED Acer Iconia W700 today and have a slight problem. It runs very nice and I am very happy with it, but theres a problem with windows activation. It does not activate it. It always tells me that the key has a problem.
I must add that it was fully recovered by the former owner with the recovery CDs included. I called him (A commercial seller) and he called Acer for me and asked whats wrong. The answer he got was the following: There are revisions of the W700 which fail to activate after a full recovery and this cant be fixed without send in to support. Whats wrong here??? Interesting is, that the device calls itself W700p and has a Win8 Pro installed. Shouldnt there be a core version on it?
I tried to reset the key with slmgr.vbs -ipk (OEM Key ripped from the UEFI with a nice Tool) and the answer is, that this key is valid, but not for this Windows Version. Great... Next thing I tried is installing from a Retail Windows 8 DVD. First only a Pro one, then a Multi one without ei.cfg. Both dont start the setup but tell me that the key I entered (Automatically taken from UEFI I guess) is not for these Windows Images.
I had even more fun with ei.cfg (Tried [Channel] OEM and Retail) and PID.txt on the ISO (Set the OEM key in there).
How do I get this done? Either way, Recovery with working activation OR preferred using a Clean Windows 8 DVD? I have NO time to send it in, I need this device!
