Aspire 5733 non responsive

Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 5733, it hasn't got a lot of programs & no games on it, & I haven't installed anything recently other than the inevitable windows (7) & Adobe etc updates.

 

It has Mc Affee protection & has been flawless up to now.

 

It started hanging on me a few days ago if left for an hour or two, and I had to turn it off & on again to use either firefox or get/ use emails (thunderbird)

 

Then it wouldn't turn off so I had to remove power cable & battery, then this morning it took two hours to start whilst windows searched for a solution to it not starting.

 

I am English & my Acer is French so forgive me if I miss translate what it said

 

It is now diplaying the screen with all the usual icons on, however if I click on them I get the blue spinning circle for a while as if its doing something, then nothing.

 

Thunderbird won't open, neither will firefox or windows explorer, the blue circle just sits there for ages & nothing happens.

 

Any ideas ?

Hmm this is very weird, after watching the blue circle for a an hour I took a phone call, when I went back to look at it ; shock !

 

Its working pefectly, what on earth was all that about ?
