Acer Aspire S7-391 FN key issue (after BIOS and WIFI update to fix mouse issue) - SOLVED

Hi there,

I had constant issues with the BT mouse (randomly disconnecting) and came to these forums and read BIOS and WIFI update would fix - well it did I am happy to say.

However now my volume UP and DOWN using FN Key (FN and up and down arrow) is no longer working (have restarted PC several times - no change). All other FN keys seem to work?

Please can someone suggest how to fix, I use this FN ability all the time. Thanks!

EDIT: I have now uninstalled and reinstalled audio driver - uninstalled and reinstalled Launch Manager  = no change.

EDIT 2: Just realise that the FN + Y key (which is audio mute) does not work also, so no FN key related to audio work

EDIT 3: SOLVED  - I had reinstalled latest WIFI, restarted again, no change (had restarted many many times). Then I shut-down PC and cold boot, and everything works - restarting did nothing you have to shut-down.

    hi,

my function volume keys also stopped working. So your problem was resolved after you updated...what? And also if you know, is there a way to un do the windows updates because it seems like after that happened my ultra book won't stay on unless plugged into outlet. any help would be awesome

I had this problem before. The way I solved it is to uninstall the software Launchmanager. Before I reinstalled it, I found everything works well and there is no process Launchmanager in my task manager. Btw, I haven't installed Launchmanager since then.

    I'm having the same problem.

I just recently installed the wifi/bluetooth update to my S7-191. It fixed the constant BT mouse disconnect problem. But no Fn volume nor mute functionality.

Other Fn keys work (screen brightness, keyboard brightness, trackpad disable).

Shutting down, then manually restarting doesn't fix it for me. Tried it and regular "restart" many times.

    Very frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!

    Anyone have any other suggestions?

Updatating the lastest WiFi and BT drivers did resolve the issues. When visiting Acer downbloading web site, please make sure you choose the correct driver base on your OS. The default OS is Windows 8. It will break the FN volume key functions if your OS is Windows 8.1. You need to make sure you choose the correct OS.
