    Try this.

Unplug your unit, and take out the battery. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Reinsert the battery and plug the unit back in. Turn it on.

If this didn't help your unit requires service and you will have to contact Acer.

Try what Scotty sez first. And report back. If it happens again, allow time for the system to fully boot. Then sequentially press the WinKey + RightArrowKey + EnterKey to shut the system down normally even though you can't see the screen. Then do a cold-reboot. Report back again.

OK. Within about 2 seconds of powering on the computer, press F2 a few times to get into the bios setup. Assuming you still can't see anything on the screen, press F9 once to re-load the bios factory defaults. The press F10 to save the settings. Then press the EnterKey to exit the bios setup and boot the computer.

If still a black screen on allowing the system to fully boot up, again sequentially press WinKey + RightArrowKey + EnterKey for a normal shut down. Then do a cold re-boot. Report back again.

PS It would help to know what Acer model you have.

OK. Before going further please try to reset the bios to factory defaults as in my last post. Report back.

OK. I'm assuming that resetting the bios didn't work either since you didn't say what happened. Correct? The next step is a bit more complicated.

That's correct.  I'll try to understand and do my best in order to fix my netbook.

OK. For a preview of what you're gonna have to try, watch this youtube video. This is a procedure for updating your acer bios since the black screen problem is common and seems to be related to the bios.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHkGkw9EE8c

After watching this video, go to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers to find the latest bios download for the ao725. You will find this information by entering your netbook's serial number or snid (on the backside of the computer) or by entering the model number in the appropriate box.

It's probably best for you to replay the video and study the procedure until you're comfortable enough to try it. You'll need a USB thumb drive as a bootdisk to carry out this procedure. Again, study the video.

I also assume this netbook is no longer under warranty. Correct?

I'm not sure if my netbook still has its warranty or not.

As for the link you've given me to download the latest bios for my netbook, I already downloaded the file but unfortunately    it's missing the files i need like the one's on the video you've also given me. After I've extracted the zip the only file inside the folder DOS was the application ZHG105 and nothing else. The latest bios for the model of my netbook was only for windows 8.

I have already done the step on the video but It didn't work. I will try again after studying the video carefully, I'll get back to you ASAP if i get no results.

    Thanks.

Download the v1.05 bios that's listed for the ao725 even if it's the same  one as you have on your machine. Then re-install it as per the low-end guru video.  This is called flashing rather than upgrading the existing bios to correct errors. I suspect that the very low battery problem you had, might've somewhow messed up the existing v1.05 bios you have on the machine now. So flash it according to the procedure on the video.

PS: I would NOT upgrade or flash the bios until you know for sure your warranty status. Usually there's a year warranty on these netbooks. Better check this out before you go any further. You can do this check on the Acer site with you're serial number or snid. Do you have a sales receipt with a date on it?
