Aspire S7-391 Can you prevent backlight dimming on battery?

Most of the reviews that I have seen suggest that the backlight dims to 50% when running on battery power, and that there is no way to change this. I appreciate that this is done to conserve power, but it does not seem too clever for outside use.

 

I have seen one or two comments that this can be overidden, but no details.

 

Can an owner, or Acer, confirm one way or the other.
