Hi,

My name is Patrick, and I have a problem with my Windows Live Movie Maker 2012. I tried other forums and communities, but they won't help me. Once I click Movie Maker, it says "Sorry, Movie Maker can't start. Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements before trying to start Movie Maker again, then try to update the driver for your video card."   My netbook model is Acer Aspire One D270,My O.S is Windows 7 Home Basic which I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, my processor is Intel Atom N2800 2GB, my video driver is Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 Series, resolution is 1024x600, my DirectX Version is DirectX 11. I tried to update the driver but it says my driver is up to date. I tried to reinstall my Movie maker but it's still have an error. I believe my netbook meets the requirements. Please help me!......

I had a similar problem in that Movie Maker had worked fine and then one day it would not work and came up with the same type of messages...it is something to do with "Silverlight"...but there are differing versions...I think in the end I needed to re-install Silverlight 2011 and then everything worked again...this was more than a year ago and trying to find information is hard...all I can suggest is trying to reinstall the Silverlight version that you have (it may have updated etc) or another thought is to "restore your computer to an earlier time" via the Control Panel and this may reset to a time when it did work.

I`m afraid that I can`t answer this as I`m not that knowledgeable...all I know is that there is an issue that is caused by Silverlight regarding Movie Maker...on several occasions I`ve had problems such as you mention with the same messages etc...the solution for my problems were found by googling the problem...eventually I found that by uninstalling Silverlight and re-installing the previous version (in my case it was Silverlight 2011) it worked...this has occured 3 times...I believe that when you install Silverlight it loads several programs and this may be something to do with the problem but further than this I cannot answer.

Another solution may be to try to use the "restore to an earlier time" via the control panel...system and security...action centre...select "restore to an earlier time"...I also tried this but it did not work for myself...perhaps you`ll have better luck...remember also that Silverlight is a MICROSOFT program and this is an Acer forum...hint hint...you may find detailed answers to this question elsewhere.
