Acer S3 startup repair problem

Hi,

Around 6-7 months ago I bought a new Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook with the Windows 7 operating system installed. For the most part it has been working normally, with the exception of a broken screen. Until I have the funds to replace it I am using an external monitor connected via HDMI cable as a screen.

I attempted to use it tonight, only to be presented with two options on startup; start windows normally and startup repair. If I select the start windows normally option I get a flash of a blue error screen where it then restarts. If I select start startup repair however, it leads to a grey screen, appears to be loading for a few seconds, and then stalls with no apparent activity thereafter. To my knowledge this is completely out of the blue, and I have not previously downloaded any form of malicious software. I only use it for word processing and internet browsing. Any clarification and potential fixes for the matter would be greatly appreciated Smiley Happy

I would check to see if you can boot the system in Safe Mode.

If so, attempt to roll back beyond the latest updates to see if that corrects the issue.
