New Power supply for w510 in UK

Hi there,

 

I have just snapped the pins on my PSU turning around the connector so it locks properly and now my power supply is broken, not having a standard power supply unit I appear to be a bit stuffed as there aren't any readily available alternatives.

 

Acer store doesn't appear to work so can't look there Guess that'll teach me for going against the flow and buying a less popular brand.

 

Any ideas where I can source one in the UK? Its a right pain as I want to take it away on holiday next week.

It is a bit of a problem, I think for my own issue as the PSU is fine and just the casing is broken I will either fabricate a new door, or in fact even easier buy an iconia 18w charger from another model and transplant the internals and connector.

I see the store is back up now, no stock on my PSU though, also the manufacturer code on the website doesn't match what came with my machine. store say  NP.ADT11.00J whereas mine is adp-18tb a

 

Does anyone know if the w700 adaptor is compatible with w510, I wouldn't have a problem carrying around a larger PSU, it's a lot more convenient that what I have at the momemt which is a stripped down psu with 240v wires plugged directly to it.

Thanks for that, I'll attempt a German translation as a last ditch attempt, I have contacted some local acer parts places to see what they can do first.

Good luck. In March the Acer parts were briefly available in the US for about half the current price.

 

IMNSHO one of the things holding back Windows Tablets now that the initial feeding frenzy is over is a lack of common accessories or even common connectors.

 

I really need a minimal dock for an automotive application but none exist like they do for iOS devices. Windows tablet manufacturers all use custom connectors even between models (cannot use a W700 dock for a W510).

I bought a cheap 18w supply as suggested from acer parts and did the transplant, no more playing with 240v mains, yay.

I couldn't wait any long for acer store.
