Hi I have been trying to upgrade my Iconia Tab W500 to windows 8 for the past week. I purchased Windows 8 Pro OEM 32 bit. I can get windows to install without any issues. I tried just installing windows 8 with the disk (that didn't work I can even get through the setup screen). So I had to install from windows 7 to windows 8. I tried both options Keep all settings and files and the clean install. I also tried the Acer upgrade assistant.
The problem is I cannot get the touch screen to work.
I've tried installing the touch screen drivers, device control drivers, AMD display drivers, and updated the bios. The only time I got it to work temporarily in 8 was after installing the Touchscreen firmware (1007.2005) after doing that it worked immediatly after the install. It prompted me for a reboot and after the reboot it wouldnt work any more and I can no longer reinstall the firmware since it is now up to date.
I like the performance a lot better in windows 8 (windows 7 has problems even streaming video from amazon and netflix just a little delay between audio and video)
However without touch ability the W500 is a poor laptop... Has anyone else sucessfully upgraded can you point me to the correct driver to get it working.
