Do you or do you not support the Acer Iconia Tab a501 units that you sold?

Can I get one LAST and STRAGHT answer about the tablets I bought less than a year ago? I know you guys are busy kissing up to Microsoft, but a LITTLE product support would have been nice. I bought these units with the promise of an upgrade to Android ICS. Acer forgot. The seller forgot. And the SP forgot. I USED to think highly of Acer as a company that produced quality computer products without all the bloatware that HP and others do. But with what I have now seen and hear of Acer, I am more than just disappointed. MY tablet was ABANDONED less than three months after I bought it. Do you seriously believe that I can simple go and buy another one from Acer? I am disabled and retired on a limited income and I cannot afford to buy products that are not fully supported. Am I asking too much for the one small software upgrade that was promised when I bought these for my wife and I?? I seriously do not expect any kind of response as it seems online that Acers provides little support after the sales bill has been printed. Hope your gamble on Windows 8 pays off, cuz it would only make your product support look like joke it has shown itself to be. -Dean

Yes Acer does support our tablets via the warranty provided. If you have a hardware problem with the tablet please let us know and we can assist in correcting it. While some tablets we release do have updated software released for them, this is done as a courtesy and is never guaranteed or promised in any marketing or sales materials. Acer never promised any software upgrades to the A501. We're sorry to hear you feel abandoned but this is not our intention.

Oh I feel the same as this poor guy why in the world would you make a product such as a new tablet and only have updates for half of the country's in the world and you may have not promised a update but you guys sure did run your mouth about one

ICS is rolling out slower for you because you have to wait for your telco to approve the upgrade for use on the network.

For what it's worth, ICS does make booting a lot slower (around 2 to 3 minutes from cold.)

I have noticed that ICS does have a few issues with speed of chrome and gmail, (which may be fixed in today's gmail update.)

So even with ICS, it does make it worthwhile to reboot every few days or so due to speed issues.

I am still waiting for the Android upgrade that I was also promised would happen for my A501. Is it ready yet?

Be glad you are just waiting for an upgrade (and is there something you want that you cannot do ? OTOH I paid a premium for a 7" Android tab from a different mfr on the documented promise of HDMI support like their larger tabs. Several months later HDMI was redacted from their literature).

This is part of the reason (one of many) I have shifted from Android as an automotive platform to Windows, it is simply much more capable and can accomodate everything I need to do.

Do still feel that Android and iOs have a place, just in smart phones and for tethering. Real apps need more capable systems.

Go on holiday in europe, the uk, australia, or new zealand.

Then you will find that the carrier has an update to ICS ready for you.

I live in UK but don't have any updates available from 3.2.1!

When I try to update it says none available and that my device is `up to date'. I wish...... :-(

Now that is strange. Have you checked to see whether the european networks have the update available ?

Or even if the other UK networks have it available ?

I have heard that Orange doesn't play well with things such as international roaming over here in NZ, so it could in theory be your network provider to blame, as they push the updates over the air.
