Repair ticket open but warranty has expired since ticket was opened

My computer has been shutting down randomly. Sometimes it happens every 5 minutes, sometimes it's days in between shut downs.  I set up a ticket to return it for repair, as it was still under the one-year warranty.  However, I never received the e-mail with shipping instructions and since I set up the ticket, my one-year date has passed.  When I attempt to contact Acer about this, I get messages saying that I am no longer under warranty.  All I want to know is if I can still send this back or if it's too late and I can't find any way to actually contact someone.  Any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated, as I find it ridiculous that the only way to speak to someone would be to purchase repair assitance. 

 

Incredibly frustrated by the lack of ability to contact anyone in customer service.
