Cannot boot from CDROM

I have a new Travelmate P453 M that I cannot get to boot from the CDROM drive.  I downloaded two bootable iso and burned them on the the Travelmate, one to CD and the other to DVD. First I tried the F12 boot menu to select booting from the CDROM and then I changed the boot order in the BIOS to boot from the CDROM first.  In both cases I booted into Win 7 from the HD. I believe both disks are good since I was able to boot both and use them to upgrade another laptop. I also created a bootable disk on another machine and it would not boot either. I feel there is some switch I'm missing......

I once had a desktop system that I experienced similar problems...in the boot menu I had to actually disable the HDD boot up option in the BIOS...it wasn`t enough to just change the order so that the CDROM drive was first...it worked after that...but...this is just something I found from desperation really...no idea if your machine would be similar.
