Acer S5-391 the touchpad stops responding

When I turn on the computer I am unable to login because the keyboard and mouse do not respond. I have to hold in the power button until the screen turns off to shut the machine down. then after the reboot everything is fine. I have already tried doing a factory restore, same behavior after restore. I have narrowed it down to a buggy driver for the ElanTech touchpad. I have also contacted Acer support, they did a remote session and suggest I mail in the machine for repair. I sent it in for repair and after the repair same behavior. I contacted Acer support again and they want me to send it again. I am concerned that I will keep having to troubleshoot for the same issue. Please help, very very frustrated.
