Cannot connect to Internet

Last Nov of 2024 (less than a year ago) DH purchased his second Aspire laptop. The 1st one lasted 4 year before he started having issues with the keyboard. This 2nd one seems like a lemon out of the shoot. (Customer service was of no help, ever) ~ yet i digress….

Yesterday he was having intermittent connectivity issues, getting worse as the day went on. Then last evening, he could not get on the internet. Said "No Internet", we tried all the various "fixes" we could find by searching the issue. Figuring it was the wifi adapter.

Again, nothing we did worked…. so he thought…. How about swapping the Qualcomm adapter from the old laptop and put it in the new one…. Nope, didn't work BUT…. putting the "new" one in the old 5 year old laptop, he could get on line.

So, now we are assuming there is something amiss in the newer (less than a yr old) laptop.

What other possible issue would there be where something would keep the adapter from connecting to the internet signal? (It's obviously NOT the wifi adapter)

We bought a USB adapter, still says "No internet".

~ Ready to buy a new laptop.

First of all it would really help if you stated which exact model Aspire laptop you are talking about, like an A315-xx or an A515-xx or the newer ones like an AG15-xx etc etc? As an internet and WLAN connection depends on first your nbn modem and if the modem has an internet connection, then the wireless rounder and its settings to get a wireless connection going.

Btw and as an example, I just moved to a new place and had the same problems and it was the router, as I couldn't connect the router until it was reset and all its settings reset before it started working. So try that first, as its hard to give you any detailed advice or a solution if you don't specify what laptop, modem, WLAN router you have. Good luck and hope this helps you out further

Try to do a Wi-Fi driver refresh by doing the below:

Go to Device Manager > Network adapters > select your WLAN card > right click the card at Properties > Driver > Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer > and then pick the last and most recent dated Wi-Fi driver that is in that list, and reinstall that driver, as afterwards your Wi-Fi should work.
