Hi everyone!
All of a sudden my laptop stopped showing any sign of life. Turns out that the power/voltage control component on the motherboard got shot-circuited - which further damaged the GPU module (Nvidia RTX 3060 6G). Motherboard picture attached.
I sent it for repair as well - but the guy was only able to change this voltage component so atleast we can start the laptop. Now I have everything running - except for the Nvidia GPU.
He suggested the two options are to either use it for my basiuc work or get the Motherboard changed to get the most out of it again.
Now - my laptop identifies it as a 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'
I am thinking to buy a new motherboard instead of buying a whole new laptop.
A replacement motherboard is roughly costing me around $635 from Alibaba and Aliexpress.
Q1: Do you have any suggestions where I should buy it from? Does Acer provide replacement parts like such? I'd be happy to buy it from them.
Q2.a: When I search for the motherboard 'GH53G LA-L191P', the ads I see are for Acer Triton - whilst the motherboards looks the same & the name on the motherboards is also the same (written under the RAM slots). Whats with that?
Q2.b: Rightnow I have i7 11800H with 3060 6G. They (one seller on Alibaba) also has an option for i9 11900H with 3070 8G. Can I upgrade without any technical complexities involved?
Looking forward to your opinion & help.
Thanks alot!
Fahad
