Aspire TC-1780 / PSU + GPU upgrade. Need a better PSU to so I can get a 1440p GPU like 4060ti/5060ti to work.

Hello, Acer community! Anybody, a helping hand please?

I own an Aspire TC-1780, with these spec:

i3-1310, 300w PSU, came with 8gb but upgraded with another 8gb/now dual channel

While I'm verry happy with the PC, I just found out I have proprietary parts.

I researched here and there, and I found there's a 500w PSU for my model

I really need a better PSU to so I can get a 1440p GPU like 4060ti/5060ti to work.

Now here's my question, I'm a little skeptical to buy from another country especially when have to pay in advance, so I heard a 24pin to 6pin adaptor could work with my motherboard and a standard ATX PSU. I would prefer this choice, but not sure if it will work, never done it.

I also don't know what PCI for GPU this motherboard has. I also don't know what ATX PSU to get or if I could expect more then 5-10% performance lose from 4060ti/5060ti which I'm fine with, in case motherboard is pci 3.0 and gpu's are 4.0.

Can anyone guide me please before I blindly invest?

You can upgrade this desktop to the 500W PSU and to what Acer lists in the SG to the top gpu of the ARC A380.6GB GDDR6.96B.1750MHz that will work with the 500W PSU. Also, I would recommend that you also upgrade the cpu to the top of the range i7-13700 as with the gpu a higher spec cpu would give you a much better increase in performance that will utilize the higher spec gpu. Also upgrade the bios to this desktops last version R01-B1. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

The thing is Arc 380 works with my actual 300w PSU I have now, I had that gpu.

I just want a real upgrade like a 4060/5060ti.

Use the NVidia RTX3060 as a more powerful upgrade gpu, as that is what Acer uses for the other models with 500W PSUs. As the Acer PSU is a proprietary PSU for this desktop board and power plugs and you are limited and are stuck with the Acer PSU which the most powerful is 500W, so look for a gpu that can be powered and will work with a max 500W PSU, Good luck.
