battery power .balanced or power saver

my dad bought this laptop having 4.5 hr battery power ...is battery remains in use for 4.5 hr in balanced or power save mode..when i put computer in balanced mode it only displays 3 hr remaining in 100% also...and this laptop has nVidia optimus technology.i know it optimizes battery power with performance but i think it has gone to hell..it doesnt do anything ..somehow can u tell me how to enable this..and about battery problem??

i sometime play games on battery mode..can playing games in battery mode reduces battery power forever..from 4 hr to 2 or 3 hr........

Can laptop heating reduces battery life?
