I have a shell of an Aspire XC-1760 lieing in a box, and im planning to build a media center for it.
It originally had an i5 12400 (which is in my currennt pc now), and i know that the i3 12100 and i7 12700 can be used as those were options when buying.
I have ordered an i3 12100 from CEX, but it was cancelled and refunded (likely a stock error). The only other LGA 1700 CPU they have in stock that would fit within the power constraints is that i5 12500T, which is actually an even better option because its more powerful with less power draw. Will this be compatible with this computer, or should i just try ordering the i3 again? I don't want one from eBay because theyre horribly overpriced there.
Unfortunately an F CPU is not an option, as the only low profile GPUs i can get at a decent price either draw too much power or lack AV1 video decoding (which for a media playback PC is kinda a dealbreaker). Also my experience with Nvidia on Linux has been questionable, so that especially pushes any Nvidia option away
Thank you for reading, and hopefully someone has an answer!
