Acer Predator G9-972 BIOS backup battery Issue after replacement (Windows 11)

Hello guys,

I do have a small question about the bios backup battery of my Acer Predator G9-972.

(Yes i know an oldie but still working fine so won’t go in the trash bin 😂)

I’ve recently replaced the battery, so the system can run without any power adapter again and i’ve also replaced the bios battery. But since this action I got the issue when the system has been disconnected from power and i start it up again it always has to go into the bios setup by the <ESC> key followed by saving the setup, with function key F10, and then it starts fine. So i presume the bios backup battery is not ok.

My question is:

Should this bios backup battery a rechargeable battery or just a normal battery (Type CR2032)

I hope someone can tell me

The Predator G9‑972 was designed and last supported under Windows 10. Acer never released BIOS updates beyond the Windows 10 1703 era, and there are no official firmware packages for Windows 11. Running Windows 11 on this platform can trigger EC/BIOS‑related issues, as you’ve already seen.

Since Acer no longer provides BIOS or driver support for this model, the most stable path is to roll back to Windows 10. I recommend using version 21H2 or earlier, which aligns better with the last supported BIOS and drivers.
