Battery Not Charging Properly on Acer Aspire 3 A315-59 with Fedora. Is there a way to fix it?

Hi, I am having an issue with my Acer Aspire 3 A315-59 where the battery is not charging properly. I am running Fedora Linux (Windows completely removed). When I plug in the AC adapter, the battery icon only appears for 3–5 seconds, and the red charging light stays constant when the laptop is off, while both red and blue lights blink when the laptop is on. upower shows the battery as discharging even with AC connected, with capacity around 67%. I have tried a hard reset (power off, unplug, hold power 30–60s) and verified the charger and connections, but the issue persists. Could this be a battery, DC jack, or Embedded Controller issue, and is there a way to fix it?

Please update your BIOS to version 1.31 dated 2025/07/09, which includes an EC update: https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-support/Aspire_A315-59

There’s a small pinhole on the back of your laptop marked with a battery icon. Insert a pin until you feel a click (micro switch) and hold it for a few seconds to reset the battery.

After 3 years, the battery should still be OK, but let’s confirm with a battery report, Paste this in the Command Prompt:

powercfg /batteryreport
Open the generated report with Edge, press Ctrl + P or right-click and choose Print to Microsoft PDF
