Hello everyone!
This might sound unusual, but when I was on Nvidia driver 577.0, I ran into a bug that actually turned out to be useful rather than annoying.
The issue was: “Unable to change display mode.”
While it caused a slight and almost unnoticeable performance drop, it dramatically lowered GPU thermals even in Turbo mode and made the fans run much quieter. It was honestly a great side effect: cooler temps, minimal noise, and only a barely perceptible FPS loss.
After updating to the latest driver, the bug is gone and I’m back to high temps and loud fans again.
So my question is:
Does anyone know what caused this “Unable to change display mode” bug originally? I know it's one of my background apps, and I know which one it is.
And is there any way to safely replicate its cooling behavior without rolling back to 577.0?
I’d really like to experiment with this again. I much preferred the lower temps and quieter fan curve, even if it meant sacrificing a few frames per second.
Thanks a lot in advance!
