I recently got this high-end gaming laptop off the secondhand market. It works great except for a few issues which have been bothering me, foremost of which is this one. About every couple of minutes at a semi-regular frequency, the laptop will "freeze" for a brief second or half-second before resuming normally. I mainly notice this when pages stop scrolling or the mouse suddenly stops registering movement, only to "snap" back to its new position after the freeze. The problem is especially egregious, however, when I listen to videos, either actively or in the background. The audio will very obviously "freeze" and glitch when the microfreeze/stutter occurs, and it is very irritating when it happens. I mostly notice this during normal browsing, not gaming. Strangely enough, I have not noticed significant issues with this in the games I play yet, but I assume if left untreated, it will eventually bleed into my gaming as well.
I have tried installing new graphics drivers and rolling them back, both Intel and NVIDIA. I have turned off the NVIDIA processor completely and confirmed that the problem still persists even with it off. I've tried turning off thermal throttling for applications (my web browser). The problem is becoming very frustrating and concerning for me, particularly because I avoided an ASUS ROG laptop over a similar issue which turned out to go all the way to the BIOS firmware. I really, really hope this is not a similar case. I have a slightly older Nitro 17 laptop which did not have this issue (or at least not nearly as bad), this seems to be specific to the Predator Triton 17X, and it was factory-reset when I got it.
