Hello,
I have an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54 (Core i5-9300H, GTX 1660 Ti, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD).
The laptop turns on — keyboard backlight and power LED stay on — and both CPU and GPU heat up, but there is no display on the internal or external screen.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Removed battery, SSD, RAM, and CMOS battery to isolate components.
- Fans spin for about 10 seconds, then stop, while power LED stays on.
- Tried different RAM sticks and slots — same behavior.
- Attempted BIOS recovery using Fn + Esc + Power with a FAT32 USB drive and BIOS files from Acer’s support page (tried versions 1.33, 1.05, and 1.02).
- With the file named isflash.bin, the fans spin continuously for a long time but never shut off automatically.
- Using the
.fd
or .exe
names doesn’t start the recovery at all.
Verified motherboard details:
EH50F TP FFC
NBX0002H700 Rev: 1.0
CV 2019/03/06
Based on this, I believe the board uses the EH50F BIOS series, but I’m not sure if the recovery filename or version needs to match the exact EC revision.
I suspect either the BIOS region or the Embedded Controller firmware may be corrupted after being left plugged in for months.
My questions:
- Does the AN515-54 motherboard (EH50F) have a dual-BIOS or EC recovery fallback?
- Is there a verified filename and BIOS version known to work for USB crisis recovery on this model?
- Can the process fail if the main battery or CMOS battery is disconnected during flashing?
- If all else fails, is CH341A programming the only option left?
Any official guidance or known working recovery method for this model would be really appreciated.
Thank you.
